Coaxial line (Coaxial line) is a guiding system composed of two coaxial cylindrical conductors, a wide band microwave transmission line filled with air or high frequency medium between the inner and outer conductors.
The structure of the coaxial line consists of four parts: sheath, outer conductor layer, insulating medium layer and inner conductor. What each part does is described below.
The sheath, that is, the outermost layer of insulation, plays a protective role.
The outer conductor has a dual function as a shielding layer, which can conduct low levels through the transmission loop and has a shielding effect. External conductors usually have three structures.
1, metal tubular. This structure uses copper or aluminum strip longitudinal package welding, or seamless copper tube extrusion and drawing, this form of shielding performance is the best, but the softness is poor, often used for trunk cables.
2, aluminum plastic composite tape longitudinal lap. This structure has a good shielding effect, and the manufacturing cost is low, but because the outer conductor is a round tube with a longitudinal slit, electromagnetic waves will leak through the gap.
3, braided net and aluminum-plastic composite belt longitudinal package combination. Developed from a single woven network structure, it has the characteristics of good softness, light weight and reliable joint, the use of reasonable composite structure, the shielding performance has been greatly improved, this structural form is widely used.
Insulating medium, PE material, mainly to improve anti-interference performance, to prevent water, oxygen erosion.
Coaxial lines are widely used in the design of wideband feeders and components mainly in the form of TEM mode. When the wave length of the transmitted signal is greater than the length of the transmission line, the size and phase of the current (or voltage) at each point on the transmission line can be approximately the same, and the distribution parameter effect does not need to be considered. However, when the wavelength of the transmission signal and the length of the transmission line can be compared to each other, the size and phase of the current (or voltage) at each point on the transmission line are different, showing a distributed parameter effect, and the transmission line must be treated as a distributed parameter circuit, which means that the coaxial line will appear TE and TM mode, that is, the higher-order mode of the coaxial line.

According to the location of the coaxial line application, it can be roughly divided into three types.
1, trunk cable: its insulation outer diameter is generally more than 9mm thick cable, requiring small loss, flexibility requirements are not high.
2, branch cable: its insulation diameter is generally more than 7mm thick cable, requiring small loss, but also a certain flexibility.
3, the user distribution network cable: its insulation outside diameter is generally 5mm, the loss requirement is not the main, but it requires good flexibility and indoor uniform direct coordination.
